radiant orchid - or the beautiful Pantone colour that will tint 2014

It is official: Pantone Colour for 2014 has been unveiled. The lucky shade for next year is Radiant Orchid (aka 18-3224), an absolutely stunning lilac-y cold pink.

It couldn't be otherwise. Baby pink and chewing gum shades dominated AW13 catwalks; anyone who doesn't own a pink coat this winter is just so out. And since pink had been away from the spotlight for quite a while, wouldn't it be sad to rob its throne too soon, now it's finally had its chance to glow? Well, Pantone's Radiant Orchid, pink's sophisticated and modern cousin, will secure sovereignty of this equally loved and misliked shade.

We already saw some hints on S14 catwalks, especially on Prabal Gurung's collection, and Pantone is now institutionalising fuchsia-purple-pink (in short, Radiant Orchid) as a trend that will dominate 2014.

I cannot wait to see 2014 impregated by this gorgeous shade. Can you?
